Teachers
Latin America takes great pride in our ability
to connect program participants to that which matters
most...real teaching employment abroad or real experience
through internships.
There
are several ways to take advantage of the Teachers
Latin America Job Placement database. For those
enrolled in the TEFL certificate course in
Mexico and for those enrolled in the TEFL
Online certificate course, job placement assistance
in Latin America is included, at no extra cost.
If you are enrolled in one of these programs, ask
your Advisor about what teaching jobs await you.
If
you are not enrolled in one of the above courses,
you
may apply for Job Placement Assistance, provided
you meet the requirements explained in the Job
Placement Information Kit. There is a fee for
this service.
A
description of many of the types of TEFL teaching
jobs available is found on this site by clicking
on Teaching Positions in the Quick Jump Menu, or
directly.
If
in doubt, your Advisor can help explain
the Job Placement Assistance program by
email or telephone, or Apply
Online directly.

Internships
in Latin America
|
Currently
listed Internships are
listed here.
An
Internship through Teachers Latin America
is a unique program that may be better suited
to certain participants than longer term
employment. An Internship may be recommended
if you:
- are
taking the TEFL Online certificate course
- have
a TESOL, CELTA, or TEFL certificate but no experience
teaching
- are
looking to enhance your resume/CV for job seeking
back home
- are
looking to stay less than 8 weeks in Latin America
- are
interested in experience and not paid employment
Internships
are designed to be flexible programs that
connect to other activities. Costs vary
for each internship program and while you
may select only an internship, it is most
commonly used to supplement another program.
For example, if you have enrolled in the
TEFL Online course, and have no other experience
teaching, your Advisor will likely recommend
a 2 or 4-week internship before taking up
a paid TEFL position in the same city.
Another
example: You have already completed a TESOL,
CELTA, or TEFL course, but have no experience
teaching abroad. Your advisor will recommend
using the Job Placement Assistance Program
and an Internship. This may see you complete
an internship of 2 or 4 weeks in your country/city
of choice, immediately followed by starting
in a paid TEFL position in the same country/city.
The only cost is the Internship, with Job
Placement included at no extra cost.
Internships
are often themed, meaning, you may select from available
internships in language schools, universities, companies,
or specific industries where English teachers are
at work.
Anyone
may apply to the Internship program, including
those enrolled in the TEFL certificate course
in Mexico. More information about Internships
can be found by downloading the Internships
Information Kit.
Currently
listed internships, their costs, and their
availability, can be found on our site at
Current Internship Programs.
If
in doubt, your Advisor can help explain
the Internship program by email or telephone,
or Apply Online
directly.

Volunteer
in Latin America
|
Volunteering
as a TEFL teacher is a very rewarding experience.
Without doubt, there is great need for volunteers
in the field of education in many rural and undeveloped
areas of Latin America.
Teachers
Latin America does not formally offer volunteer
programs to its participants, but can connect you
to other organizations working on a local level
if you wish.
Ask
your Advisor for assistance in this area.
